FAQ

Answers to the questions I hear most. If yours isn’t here, just ask.

Planning your session

What happens before the shoot?

We start with a conversation. I’ll ask what the photos are for, who will see them and how you’d like to come across. Then we plan looks and wardrobe together, so nothing on the day is left to guesswork. That consult is part of every session.

Should we choose In Studio or On Location?

In Studio is clean, lit and consistent, and it’s the go-to for headshots and casting photos. On Location takes that polished look to real places, like a park at golden hour, a city street or the beach. I bring portable studio lighting, so the light is shaped and controlled, not left to chance. If you’re not sure, tell me what the photos are for and I’ll suggest one.

What should we bring to wear?

We’ll plan it together at the consult. A good rule is one complete outfit per look, plus a spare. Clothes that fit well, in solid colors and simple textures, photograph better than big logos or busy prints.

Is hair and makeup included?

No, hair and makeup aren’t included. Come camera-ready, and we can talk through what works best for your look at the consult.

On the day

What is a session like?

Relaxed and unhurried. Many of the people I photograph are young or new to being in front of a camera, so I guide posing and expression as we go and give everyone time to settle in.

Can parents stay and watch?

Yes, parents are always welcome to stay and watch.

Do we get to see the photos during the shoot?

In the studio, yes. I shoot tethered to a large screen, so you can see the images as we work. The screen is there for reference, so we can fine-tune the light, pose and expression together. Final selections come after the session. On location, you’ll choose your finals afterward from a private online proof gallery.

Your photos

How many photos will I get?

Each look includes 3 to 5 fully retouched images. A Signature session with 2 looks gives you 6 to 10 finished photos, and you can add looks for more. Full details are on the Sessions page.

How do you edit the photos?

I retouch every image myself, by hand. Eyes stay sharp, highlights keep their detail, and skin, teeth and eyes look natural. Your final photos still look like you, just finished and ready for an agent, a casting profile or your own wall.

How soon will I get them?

Within 7 days, through a private download link.

Are there extra fees per image?

No. There are no per-image fees, no retouching upgrades and no surprise charges.

Are there add-ons?

Yes: additional looks, additional locations, an extended style consult, expedited delivery and full proofs on request. Sibling discounts are available too. Details are on the Sessions page.

Booking

How do I book?

Choose a time on the Book page. For In Studio sessions, a $100 reservation fee is due when you schedule. For On Location sessions, 50% of the session fee is due when you schedule. Either way, the reservation fee is credited toward your session, and the balance is due 14 days before your shoot date. If your shoot is 14 days away or less, the full session fee is due when you book.

What if we need to cancel?

If you paid a reservation fee, it’s fully refundable until 14 days before your shoot date. Full details are in the Terms & Conditions.

Do you photograph weddings or events?

No. Portraits are what I love, so they’re all I do.
